YASHUNEN — The Synenose Accord welcomed guided-missile command ship SSV
Portland (CC/M-01) into the corporation during a commissioning ceremony in Yashunen on 03 July.
The newest Nighthawk-class command ship, the first of its class in corporate service, is named in honor of a city attacked by Sansha’s Nation during an incursion in the Antem system in YC112.
“Portland and many other cities were brutally assaulted during the Antem incursion, with thousands abducted and stolen by alien invaders,” said Cdr. Samuel Baxter, CEO, The Synenose Accord. “We should recognize and remember that those men and women are not with us today. It is in their honor, and for the safety and security of billions across the galaxy, that we go to war every day.”
“I assure you we will be ready,” First Lt. Sarasen Otsolen, executive officer, SSV Portland (CC/M-01) told reporters following the ceremony. “Whatever challenge may be ahead for this crew, we have set a good course and the only course we will accept is toward excellence and combat readiness.”
An audience of more than 1,500 attended the ceremony, held at the Genolution Biotech Production Station in Yashunen. The crowd consisted of family and friends of those lost in Portland, along with military veterans.
The ship was christened by two survivors from Portland: First Sgt. Vitusen Alamasi of the 133rd Battalion, E Company, and Dr. Lauralie Mactundon.
“I look at this as a spring board to much greater things, it’s my first command and I couldn’t be happier,” said Missile Technician Apprentice Scuet Petson. “I am very proud to be a part of the most technologically advanced command ship in the galaxy.”
The ship is scheduled to conduct shakedown operations in the Caldari State before joining combat operations in mid-September.
